Tradition meets technology. Time honored procedures are important to maintain, but providing value to our customers means managing the final cost according to the finished worth of the instrument. Not every violin deserves a plaster cast crack repair. We pride ourselves on the high quality of our work but also in our desire to find creative solutions that are consistent with tradition while meeting the needs and the budget of the customer.

Bow rehairs done on site. We generally need up to one week to turn around a bow rehair. Same day rehairs may be possible. We use only the finest quality hair in the world. Loaner bows available on request. Violin/Viola bows-$45, Cello bows-$48.00, Bass bows-$50.00. Surcharge may be assessed if your bow has a poor condition which results in extra time spent. Colored hair available on request.

Detailed estimates and billing report. Our estimates are a combination of an estimate and a quote. The estimate portion is our expectation of billing. The quote portion is the maximum cost, even if we go over the estimation of time.

Free adjustments for one year. If you purchase an instrument from us or if your instrument has received a major restoration in our shop, we will perform necessary adjustments at no charge for one year.

If you are thinking about getting a new violin be sure your current instrument is sounding and playing its best. It would not be fair to compare a well adjusted shop instrument to a poorly maintained instrument.

Meet our workshop staff:

Scott Jensen. Scott is a bass player and graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Scott has attended the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City, UT, and the Southeastern Technical College Instrument Repair program in Red Wing, MN. Scott is our workshop foreman. Contact him directly at luthier@quinnviolins.com.

Milo Tupy. Milo learned the craft of instrument repair in Red Wing MN, as many other students of Lisbeth Butler. He helps out in the showroom too. Kids love Milo which is why he is our "rental wrangler". He also covers the phones and some email too. It's more than multi-tasking, it's "Milo-tasking".

Jesse Berndt. Jesse is our bow specialist. If you need a rehair or other service on your bow you count on Jesse for consistent and timely service. He is always quick with a joke in dead-pan style. Jesse is a cellist and an all-around great guy to have in the shop.
